I signed up for on this forum today to find out what to do with my fathers collection of straight razors. Looking up his usual online nickname i found this thread. Although over 2 years has gone by since his passing it is still heartwarming to read all the condolences and support from people i never knew, but who knew my father through this forum. Thank you.

Welcome Eirik. Your father was a well known and liked person here.
We remember him fondly. If you really want to sell off your fathers stuff, send me a PM. Normally we don't do appraisals and there are some requirements to be met before you can start selling things, but given the circumstance I'm sure we can help.

However, if you are just the least bit curious, give it a try. Wet shaving was a passion of your father. It could be nice to shave with his razors and be connected to him every time you use them. And someday, you might pass them to your son and continue the legacy. Some people here shave with razors that belonged to their great grandfather or great great grandfather.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Thank you for the replies, it is always nice to hear from people who knew my father. Grazor and Bruno, both your comments concerning the value of keeping the razors make a lot of sense to me, and we will take it into consideration. As i have explained to Bruno in a PM we do not want to sell his whole collection, this is simply a question of how to take best possible care of said collection. Although i want to keep some of the razors to remember him by and to use, i do not think i have the time or space to keep and take good care of his whole collection. Perhaps my brother will want to when he grows up however, so this is something we have to discuss and consider further within the family.
