Default Water of Ayr / Tam O'Shanter - The Celebrated Scotch Dual Hone

Absolutely mint condition, Water of Ayr / Tam O'Shanter - The Celebrated Scotch Dual Hone, For Razors, Scalpels or Very Fine Knives..

This came from Guelph, Ontario, the home of a prestigious Veterinary University, and may have been a leftover from an age when Vets sharpened their own instruments. I appears never
to have been used, I've tested it out on a couple of razors, and the results were superb.

The Water of Ayr stone is particularly rare, you won't find many in the wild, and this example is pristine. If you haven't done any research on this stone, take some time and learn how exceptional it is.

It has been stored in a ZipLoc bag in my razor chest.

Asking $350.00 USD plus shipping - PAYPAL Friends and Family only - will arrange shipping declaration and insurance according to request. PM me with any questions.

That hone looks legit. I have one that I bought from JimmyHad. He got it from Simon Coul who bought it from the mine owner.

The dark side is the fine Water of Ayr, approx 8K, and the speckled side, Tam O'Shanter, is the best 6k I have ever used when a slurry is formed first. It is very difficult to generate the slurry but worth the effort.

    Rare as all heck.

Thanks - yes, very rare, and the stone as far as I'm concerned was unused - leftover from the Guelph Vet School.

Tough call to let it go, but it was either that one, or my, "The Fox No.44 Extra Soft Water Hone and Rubber", a spectacular y/g Thuri, basically a Barber's Delight that I scored in a trade years back.

Too many hones that don't get any use....sigh :-)

You just need to Atoma(ize) it. I have one as well. Takes some practice to get the best this stone can actually deliver. A must have for any natural stone lover.
