My little Barber's hone collection (so far)

Hi gentlemens, after 7 months of straight razors I have started collecting some hones.
May look like a hoarding disorder but, ahem well you know

I dont know if they are all suited for razors but they seems so.
That mystery black stone bugs me a bit.
Any toughts?
Are they all worth lapping?

i have read that the pike norton abrasives one is not for razors but you could try the rest on a pocket/kitchen knife and have a look at the scratch pattern under a loupe. i still need to get me a barbers hone yet though

A very good collection! Thanks for sharing it. I too like barber's hones and I don't think I can be called a "collector" as all the ones I have are Swatys with "different number of lines".

Nice collection! How do you like your Carborundum 201? I have one and I prefer using the ALO side of it.

As for the black one that's bugging you - I have one that looks very similar. It is very hard and is extremely fine - very "slow." Would you say yours is as well?

Mine came in a perfectly fitted little non-descript red box, so that didn't help matters much. I would love to know more about mine as well.

I havent tried yet. The norton Pike gives a real nice edge.

Yeah the black one seems slow. Time to pull the microscope and check the scratch pattern as Bombay suggested. Maybe use a 8k norton and a 12k naniwa as benchmark.
