I Found It Over There

I found my dumass up on a mountain today, in a race, on a bike...and looking at all the rocks

differently...

But, being not a total dumass, I was successful in keeping them out of my pockets.

Appalachian sandstone is what i think it is/was. Pinhoti Trails, Dalton Jawja. Snake Creek Gap event.

and i'm too pooped to shave...hell to even make a lather. :cool:

That's ok. I'm sure you can remember the spot. When you are not in a hurry go back, and do a little rockhounding then. I'm off work on tuesday and ready for a little rock cutting.

The back of my jeep is stacked with huge pieces of that shale I made my finishing hone out of....may be able to replicate it now lol....probably 150+ pounds of rock

I'll be on grinding tomorrow. I picked up a belt sander and an angle grinder the other day and some discs and belts. As well as a new set square and some new DTM plates.

I'm thinking of testing the new tools on the test bout from the other day.

I've got 2 diamond discs for the grinder, and a set of SiC flapper discs, And the belt sander has 40 60 80 and 120 grit alu ox cloth belts for testing. If the tools will cut without fear of cracking the test bout then I'll cut a stone tomorrow out of the real stuff.

Might have a real CF hone by tomorrow night!

Sometimes even after you work on them and shape them they are still rocks. However every rock has the potential of becoming a hones. Here's hoping the load achieves its potential!

I have never had much luck with trying to use the angle grinder to flatten a rock. Typically I use the wet saw to shape the stone and then lap on my DMT under water. You can use the angle grinder to cut the edges of your rocks flat and then use the wet saw to cut down the larger flattened pieces. If you live in a larger center you can rent wet saws for the weekend.

I'm actually lieing.... The angle grinder was perfect, and the Sic flapper is a beast.
