That's the same as I've read. Also, there is no translucence of any kind. Its probably the light reflecting off the freshly lapped surface(I took it to 2500K grit).Quote:

The Fernslers is a great hone! A lot of different companies distributed them. They were called the Ruby Hone because of the deep Red Color. Here is what they look like brand new:

Although the picture I took makes the hones look brown in color, they are actually a very bright red/maroon color.
@WP: can you post the instructions ? Never saw the original ones.....
