    Default Fensler's Ruby hone

    Got this little beauty early last week. Here's some before and after pics.

    Lapped w/ 400(should've started lower,,, would've saved arm and time),600,1000,2000,2500 then re-conditioned.

    Your pics are larger than life with good detail. Did you "x" grid them as you lapped through the grinds?

    Are you trying to corner the market on barber hones ? Glad I got mine already :<0)
    Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

    Photos look fine. I've heard good things about the Ruby hones. Let us know how it goes
    The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

    Just the best ones if/where possible. I'm glad I started doing some research, because my wallet was telling me to buy every BH I saw on evilbay. Glad I resisted and used some common sense in judging where I wanted to fill my edge needs in comparison to what I already have. I'm still looking for a couple.

    Frightening. I shaved like a nervous schoolgirl. I'm quite serious. Frighteningly sharp. I hit the CrOx felt and leather, stropped 60 and shaved. I felt quite noobish. Actually had a few beads of sweat roll down my sideburn area.

    I'm still not done testing the Apart BH set of razors, but it is safe to say the Fensler's Ruby hone is a huge step above the 12K level and also improves upon the Apart BH(which is also above the 12K level).

    FYI-Those razors from that Apart BH test of which I had already shaved got the Ruby treatment.

    What do you do to "recondition"?

    @ted,

    Slather the thing with vasoline and let that puppy drink it in over a period of 12-48hrs in a warm place. Not the sun... lol.

    Wipe off the excess, wash with a little soap and water and your ready.

    It's amazing how dry these puppies get.

    @all,

    UPDATE:: Her name is Ruby and I love her. Yes, I should have also mentioned that after my regimen, it is interesting to note that the edges actually feel different on the strop. All of the razors, as a matter of fact.

    I thought I was noting this after the Apart hone, but hit the Ruby, then CrOx felt, CrOx leather and the razor on the strop feels absolutely foreign when comparing it to off the Nani 12K. *Every* single razor has evidenced the same.

    Very interesting.

    How's the shave, buttery smooth, scary sharp (hairs jumping off your face), or keen but uncomfortable. I may have to find me one of those.....
    Does the Vaseline routine apply to all BH's? I have a few I might try this on if so.
