New Swaty

For my birthday, my wife surprised me with this Swaty, which seems in very good condition. Very smooth, on the front just a chip in the lower right corner. On the back 2 corner chips (small) and some discoloration. I know NOTHING about them. How can I tell if oil has been used on it? What should I do to prep it? How do you use it...with water? All the usual newby questions, if you'll indulge me.

The Swaty can be used with water or lather. 6 to 8 passes is all it takes to bring back an edge. However, if your razor was honed with tape, you need to apply the same number of layers of tape when using the barber hone.

If you need to clean it up, some toothpaste and toothbrush work great. TBH, I have never heard of someone using oild on a Swaty.

More importantly, which one of you is my wife cheating with to even know about a Swaty? I've never mentioned it!
