I've heard that too, MJB. But right now, I want to keep it simple until I have the skills to obtain consistent results. If I do well with the Nani 12k, I will get the 5/8k and eventually the 1k so I can do a full honing. I allready have the RAD, SAD, and BAD. I'm trying to hold back the HAD.:banghead:
That's the way I did it, my razors were all pro-honed, so I wanted to be able to refresh them, if that's where I wanted to stop - so be it, that was a good place to be, I could go for years like that.
After the Nani 12k, couple of Gold Dollars and started practising until two weeks ago I did my first razor from bevel to finish, and it was a tough one to, with huge challenge to get a bevel on the toe and heel area, it shaves fine, and from here it's a continuous learning process, but I will still be refreshing my razors far more than I'll ever be going from bevel up...I think we approached it pretty much the same way. ;)
My new Nani 12k with holder and lapping stone arrived!!! Another perfect order from Straight Razor Designs!
Time to see if I can lap her, and refresh a couple edges. My ATG on the neck is very excited.
:chapeau
Anyone have specific lapping tips or instructions for this particular stone? I'm getting ready for work right now, but as soon as I get time, I'll do some searchs and reading before I attempt lapping and refreshing...
That's what I was thinking too...
