Hone Identification?
Well, it's clearly labelled but I wondered if any of you guys know anything about these things, like grit size? or where they're from? and of course, might it be useful for straight honing?
It needs quite a bit of flattening but it feels pretty smooth like slate or ceramic.

Most likely comes from a factory in Welwyn Garden City. I would not use it on razors unless I am repairing any big nicks in the edge.

Yes if it is truly the well-known version of India stone it's going to be relatively coarse in the razor sharpening sphere. No use other than bevel setting for the most part. These are synthetic stones composed of aluminum oxide.
