    Default Guacamole first impressions

Today I shaved off the Suehiro Gokumyo 20k for the first time. The stone was lapped to 2000 grit W/D and the razor was a E.A Berg The progression after bevel set was 4/8 norton ,12k ss , and 15 light laps on the Guacamole. My first impression was that it felt much like the edge from my HB Ark but I am liking the 10 laps on the Suehiro vs 200-300 laps it takes with my Ark. Not sure it is any better edge, but it sure as hell gets there quicker. I'm hoping my Sheffields like the stone !

I really don't know about your shefields but mine love the 20K Suehiro. I have had the stone since I read the article lynn posted about the stone. I knew that if it was good enough for him it would a good stone to have. For me it's great. I no longer use past on the linen after honing. I just strop and shave. The progresson I go through is 1-3-5-8-12K SS then the Suehiro 20K. Now I know i'm not in the class as Maximilian or Lynn (I've shaved off blades honed by both) but I can shave without big ole croc tears.

The reflection on that third picture looks fantastic.

I have found that since using a Suehiro that my blade angle has decreased while shaving.
The bevel does get mirror shiny with this hone!
It's a dog eat dog world and I have on milk bone underwear.
