About cheap syntheric
Edit: Synthetic!! :)
Hey guys, there's something i have wondered every time i see it, maybe someone here knows the answer.
I have a few nice easy cheap hones that i use mainly for knives. After use, maybe a day later, when i look at them, one or two of them have a strange H type drying pattern as if there are hollow portions of the hone.
Attachment 206267
kinda looks like the two big rectangles may hollow or something. Any guesses or knowledge?
thanks

Did it come with a rubber base with that shape? The cheaper synthetic water stones from China tend to come with them and using it leaves that pattern on the stone.

Yeah they suck the fine oil that the ruberr bases are covered and the result is this , a hidrophobic stripes along the shape of the base , nothing to worry , soak it in oil , and they will desapeare ha ha ha a

I have had similar patterns show up on stones that the labels have been removed from as well.

I cannot believe i didnt think about that rubber base hahaha, it never goes near the stone since i got it so i never put 2 and 2 together.
