Coticule identification please

I got this Coticule in trade for my razor blade but I don't know what type is. Can you please help me?
Also want to know is it other (grey) side of stone for use or just for stand. Thanks in advance!

Back is slate. It's not useful honing material. It's an Ardennes stone so ask Ardennes.

My guess would be La Grise.

Hone a few razors with it. That way you can identify its type as fast or slow, fine or coarse, and great or good.

It's a coticule, so experiment and have fun with it.

Is it the white (rather than purple) slurry that identifies it as being slate?

Yes, all my Belgian's are BBW backed and have the purplish slurry.

It looks like it may be La Grise or maybe La Grosse Jeune.

From the pics and the lack of any inclusions I would say you have a "Select Grade" Coticule
