Best place to look for a Hohenzollern hone and any info.
I have been looking for a Hohenzollern hone for a while and am coming up short. I have seen a couple of posts and pictures here and there over time so I know that they are out there somewhere. I know that they are Thuringian hones, so they must be good, but dont know much else. I remember hearing about the Hohenzollern Castle way back when I was a kid in school. The name struck a chord with me somehow and the search is on. I now have a bad case of "the thrill of the hunt" going on.
Any info would be appreciated via the forum or pm.
Thanks!!

As you mentioned these stones...these were sold or better said imported from Severin Robert Droescher during a certain Timeframe. He left germany and immigrated to America....there he started his company SRD (S.R. Droescher Inc.) and sold hones and razors....it also seems that the Hohenzollern Stones were made for the US market because none was found here in Germany up to date...
As he had a comparable Artwork like the Escher Stones iam quite sure that he got his stones from him...thinking a bit more it must have been a kind of Cooperation between Escher and Dro(Escher)....
So looking for a place to look for a Hohenzollern Hone, it would definately be the Thuringian Region around Sonneberg where the stones have been quarried in the past...and for sure then you search for a thuringian stone.
Peter (Hatzicho) mentioned that Severin Robert came from Hechingen, thats correct because i got a confirmation on this.
Hechingen is near Castle Hohenzollern, so there is a type of connection. Probably Severin Robert had a personal connection to it....Last edited by doorsch; 09-12-2015 at 10:27 PM.

Thank you doorsch!
Very interesting information.
I remember reading once is that they were imported to the U.S.A. to a company in St. Paul, Minnesota.
