DO NOT LAPP those stoes as they get useless . Use them as they are . The abrasive is in the surface layer . It is writen on the bottom - do not damage or let the surface of the stone be damaged .

The most I ever do now is bevel the edges if needed.

Too late, besides the surface was beat up. I shaved off the freshly lapped surface. It was do-able and wasn't even that bad.

If the abrasive is only in the surface layer what is leaving my edge highly polished and metal swarf on the stone?

I would have to guess abrasives.

I know Russian, but I use an interpreter and translation is not accurate, can be wrong and confusing. I advise to start a stone wash using detergent.
