My 1k was left in the pond overnight once, it didn't craze, just sort of melted into goo. It wasn't severe enough to cause any issues, but I learned my lesson. I just recently added the 3k, and have not had any issue with that one.

I hope you saved the goo!
There'd be a lot of good slurry in there!!!
My 1K Chosera did craze a little after a too long soak. It also turned a white color on the face over the down side when I let it dry on edge after a soak. Still usable but not so pretty.
Some factory instructions said not to soak them.

I never soak them. Just wet them on top and let it sit for 15 mins. My 12k got plain crazy after a soak once. Twisted it!
It did recover, however!

Arent those suppose to be a Profesional stones
I dont know - melted , cracked and so ....
i never had such problems with resin base stones and my cheap taideas ha ha ha
Just pulling a little bit ....
The picture of the defective hone indicates delamination, not a crazing effect. Both types of stress deformation can “possibly” be the result of a curing issue (or lack thereof), after manufacturing. Try sealing the sides like Stefan suggested before using it again.. IMO Good luck.

Thanks, the more I thought about it, and I haven't actually thought about it very much as the honing surface is free of defects, I decided to send the vendor the pics...all thanks to this thread. He thanked me and said he would send the pics to Naniwa.
Anyway, I'll wait to hear from him before I seal the sides...an idea which I like unless it leads me down the path of the J-Nat...for my purposes the synthetics, while totally lacking in romance, are doing the job of honing my razors.
I use the older Chosera stones used them for a few years, I personally never soak them run them under the tap spray while in use I then dry them thoroughly after use then store them in a cool dry dark enviroment, never had any issues with crazing.
