Thread: New Faco German razor hone. Is it a thuri?

Hello all. I am hoping to find some info on the stone I purhased off of a acquaintance yesterday. I have searched the threads and see some info on the company fads bender Et but they seem to be thuringian but I'm not convinced. I purchased thinking this was a thuringian hone but I am not sure after looking closer. It has all of the usual characteristics except it just does not feel as smooth. Would there be another natural stone mined in Germany that like escher warns against use with oil? Could be that this has not been used yet and will feel smoother after sharpening some steel.
