Vermio; The Black, Greek hone

Sorry to raise this topic from the dead, but where could I get Vermio stone?
I searched on internet without success, seems very tricky to get it outside Greece.

I feel fortunate to have been able to purchase my Vermio from Griffiths a few years ago. Since then, they seem to have disappeared completely from the most common internet-based sources, but occasionally show up on eBay.

I assume this is because the source is a private land owner and the stones, while not well known, are appreciated as very good finishers by those who have them.

Well, I live in Greece and nobody knows about them and I cannot find them here either.

Just found this on ETSY. Seller says he has 3. SHips from Greece.

For someone lacking a good natural finishing hone, this might be a good option. The one I have finishes finer than a 12K Naniwa, so I put it in the 15K category. However, as natural stones vary in composition, the advertised stones might not be in the same finishing level. The Vermio is one of my favorite finishing stones. These stones are said to be approximately 6 x 3 inches, which is a little smaller than my preferred 8" length, but with natural stones, you do not always get a large stone.

What do you think about price on Etsy? Seems a little bit expensive for the stone which is in somewhat similar category like other slates - La Lune, Black and Green Shadow, Nero Ardesia...etc

I have a la Lune and I think the Vermio finishes somewhat finer than it after a coticule. It is certainly a harder stone.

As for cost, the price seems comparable (allowing for inflation) to what I paid for mine a few years ago.
