Green Stone from UK, possibly a Llyn Idwal?

Dear SRP community,

today I've came accross a green stone, comming from UK.
The stone has been used with oil before.
Its surface looks quite coarse has also lots of black small dots but it's surface is very smooth to the touch (after lapping :))
Under DMT plate it creates quickly a fine white-greenisch slurry, the releasing speed i can compare to thuringian hones.
First very short honing on slurry shows it is working quite fine, I guess it can be a prefinisher, may be I can even finish on it...

It doesn't look like a Lyn Idwal to me; Looks more like an Arkansas or some other novaculite. Charnley?, though I've never seen one of those. Nice stone though.

My vote is for Charnley Forest as well. Definitely looks like novaculite under the scope, and the rough cut bottom..

If it is a CF you could use it as a finisher.. or at least try to and see how it shaves.

somehow I was thinking a Charnley Forest must be as hard as glas or as an Arkansas stone, but this one is not.
It does not autoslurry while honing at all but couple of passes by DMT create rich white-greenish but very fine slurry.

It is super fast on slurry and brings a glas-dulled edge back like nothing by leaving a very keen and non-toothy edge.

I need to do more tests but it is at least a great prefinisher.

Are there slate-like softer versions of Charnley Forest around?

Will dive deeper into this stone later and will post the results here

Nice pics:)
Your stone is a LI.
Dark green dots, layers, small "bubbles" with a bit golden\silver tint on the surface - everything points to a LI.
And in common LI is softer than CF.

Looks like a LI to me too. Cool looking stone and possibly a older stone because the back is not finished. Most LI's I have seen are finished on the front and back although I have seen a few with unfinished back. Cool find!

in a meanwhile I have figured out this stone a little bit.
It is not fine enough to be a finisher for me, but it does a great job covering all the way between the bevel setting to including prefinish. In case the razor does not need a geometry correction I can even use this LI to set the bevel and refine the edge, after I jump directly to any finisher.
This guy does a serious competition to my darker cretan hone.

I would say LI also Ive had a few of them over the years, I have a green stone myself and Im not sure if its a LI or CF lol, it looks more like a LI but when I tried it it produced a hell of an edge that gave me a great shave so now Im really unsure lol, if a stone fits in my progression I tend to keep it I have plenty of options in the LI region so tend not to keep any, they are a lovely looking stone and lap easily enough.
Nice stone I hope you have a place in your progression for it.

Actually, the giveaway are those layers you see on the side view. That's very characteristic of slate.
