Postman delivered this today:
1660 grams natural combo from an old barber shop. Veins are red. At its deepest the yellow coticule is still 1.5 cm deep. Veins are red. So this most likely is a La Dessante.
Has this engine room smell due to use with oil.
29 cm long 8 cm at its widest.

Depending on the pressure exerted onthe blade you can get with the use of a lot of pressure arough impression and with very little pressure an almostpolished edge. All that with only one stone!

After a couple hours'worth of elbow grease the hone is lapped and looks even better. Iron pigment in veins clearly visible now. It now weighs in at 1570 grams so I had to remove 90 grams of rock to get a flat honing surface.
Just honed my week's rotation on them: razors shown above. Edge looks pretty scratchy under a loupe but hanging hair test inaudible and still successful at more than 1 cm beyond the fingers holding the hairs.

Let us know how the shave is, Coticules are such fantastic looking stones that give awesome edges. Easily my favorites.
I found that when finishing the razor, passing the HHT straight off the Coticule is a very good sign, always provides me for good shaves when it does.
Nice find. I like the shape too.
Shave tested this morning: edge felt a bit rough on my face (rougher than Jnat edges on the same razor) but may face feels great, better than it has post-shave for a long time.
Reminds me of the time I shaved with cartridge razors: the second shaves with a cartridge thingy were usually the best.
