Nice Charnleys on the right.

Thank you. Last weeks luck. Made my decision making about which one to keep and which to let go much easier.
i actually came across this hone on another thread, but have been unable to find anyone on here giving a review of how well it worked... have you tried yours out yet?
first off sorry, ignore that last post i made, my browser was messing up and i was only seeing the thread having one pag
after i read through the thread i though hmm, i have a big pyle of slate pavers laying in the backyard lets try this out.... spent about two hours on it tonight and after covering myself in slate dust, and a whole lot of sweat this is what i have so far

its not razor ready, but i tried a pocket knife on it (havent made up a slurry stone yet) and it cuts really fast just a few last little imperfections ive got to work out
That looks about like my DT hone, but I think that has a bit more light colored areas in it....mine is more uniform.
BTW, since you mentioned slurry....anyone know where I can get a slurry stone for my DT? The shipping from Wales is a bit much for just a slurry stone...if there are none around, I might just have to buy another DT and try cutting it into slurry stones and sell off the rest.
had another day off, so i made a monster hone, think ill probably end up cutting it down some possibly into several hones... i was wondering though i was planning on keeping the stones atleast as wide as the razor... do i still need to use the x pattern if thats the case ?
i know while grinding down these hones, i ended up making one heck of a slurry jsut with a fine diamond sharpener. it goes allot faster than anything else ive ever tried (though im kinda of thinking im going to save sum of the dust i got off the stone, mix it in with the water i put on the stone and not worry about a slurry stone
I don't think this is similar to the WOA. The WOA is a fiisher and this one is not. You can shave off the DT, but it's maybe 6-8k. I lapped mine with a DMT-C (325 grit I think) and then with a Spyderco medium to remove scratches. Any medium/fine, hard hone will work to remove the scratches, or you could use progressively finer wet/dry sandpaper.
