The WoA is a little more fine, not that much more though. The DT is OK, but I would do a little more polishing after the DT with a pasted strop.

I'd say that shaving off the DT is ok, and that the DT itself is great value for money. I go from my DT to my Asagi. I tested the DT vs a BBW and found the finish to be very similar. ChromeOx, C12k, coti, escher, japanese natural - any would take a razor off the DT and give you a fantastic edge.
got a dt this past weekend. i was impressed with the quality of the stone and the way it hones. it needed lapping but wasnt out of square like my chinese stone and absolutely no chips!
i used that dt hone on a dixon cutlery razor i found at a local antique shop. it cuts much faster than my chinese 12k but gives a pretty good edge. i might use them as a pair now. and it took less than a month to get it. bit on the thin side, maybe someone with clout could convince them to cut some stones 1" thick.
What you order you get,
I got 10x3x1" wit 1x3x1" but I had to go there personally and explain to the boss what and why I want it. And of course the price was different. Waiting time was 3 days for pick up. No box included and had to lap it myself.

Would a DT be able to replace a coticule in a progression then if a finishing stone was used? I'm looking for a fast, preferably natural hone that I can use to go from bevel set to shave-ready finish, such as a coti. Would a DT fit this bill, or should I keep saving for my coti?
Depends how deep the groves from your previous hones were
and how much patience you have.
A Coticule is always a nice hone to have.
Get both.
For a while, I was going from my King 1k straight to my DT. Started with a bit of slurry and slowly diluted. The DT is certainly fine enough to shave off (at least I found mine to be), but it's only about 8k-ish. I get a finer finish off my coticule - I actually found the shave off my DT to be indistinguishable from the shave off my BBW. So, depending on what you're looking for as an end product, the DT may be for you. Way cheaper than a coti, but not as fine a finish.
