Hmm...i just recently aquired an 8x2x1 'Genuine Yellow Lake Oilstone." It is quite dark and shows alot of intial promise as a finisher...it reminds me a great deal of my vintage dark blue Thuringian.
I will test it against my other finishers, this weekend...wish me luck. He, he...

My Yellow Lake stone turned out to be slightly finer than a DT, so maybe comparable to 8-9K grit.
Sunday another Yellow Lake stone went for 15 GBP at Ebay.
