I got my CF from Kees. It had been used with oil before he cleaned it up. I've been using it with water and it works great.

you can use it with water too but results are different. with oil is different animal.
you will get different results if you choose to use with slurry ,without it etc. gl
I've used mine with water. I've also taken a small 325 DMT and created slurry and used it as you would a coticule starting with a milky slurry and diluting down to water. Of course it will cut faster with slurry than without it. Experiment with yours and see what method works best for you and let us know. :)
Mac as Jimmy said it will cut faster with slurry. In my experiment oil was giving better edge. try it and see what happens. first use with water then oil. gl
Lordy! This Charnley Forest is just bl**dy beautiful to look at, hone with, look at, hone with...!!! Its mesmerizing...the green and marroon swirls. Geez! Anyone know a good shrink?
You were right Sham...although i hate the messes that oil makes, it does seem to make the honing process smoother...ive been popping hairs all over the place.
Thanks,
Mac
Would any of you, who own a Charnley Forest, cut a piece off the end to use as a slurry stone? My stone is 9.5 inches...i dont really need one that long for razor polishing...
Thanks,
Mac
I have rubbed 2 CF together: I got very little slurry and many scratches. I think it is pointless.
