Using, selling and trading it :)
Before I started this straight razor stuff I asked my mother the same thing about here massive collection of kitchen pots & pans ( over 120 frying pans...ten years ago), her cookbook collection ( now about 1000?) and her multiple sets of dinnerware and silverware. I just did not understand the motivation!
Now that I have hundreds of razors and many, many hones I do understand.
Each is unique, all coticules are not the same nor are thuringens or any of the other natural hones. Each of the manmade hones has its own unique characteristics. Each gives a different effect on a razors edge and that I find intriguing!
This is a hobby for me and like most hobbies no attempt at rational behavior is attempted.:) One time I went thru my razors and set aside those that had some unique feature other than scales, in the end that resulted in a group of more than 100 razors!
Personally, I like variety. Routine is, for me, a dirty word.
So, Olivia!...send me a PM and tell me about those Frankon stones!:)
Well said Randy.
Thanks,
Mac
...and what did she say?
I understand the necessity of diversity, while admiring more the simple.
Duplicity will send you on an endless track, circling; all the while ignoring the purpose for beginning the journey in the first place.
