Thread: Is this a Thuri, Escher, or something else?

I bought it based on greenish appearance.

Escher is a brand of Thuringian. Unless there is a label, there is no way to confirm that a Thurry is an Escher.

That said, I have no idea what that hone might be.

+1 it is hard to say from the pics. You pays your money and you takes your chances. Might be a Chinese 12k

If it laps easily and leaves a dry powder then you did well.

Escher, Thuringen, German Waterstone are all the same type of natural rock.
Other brand names were also used.....

It doesn't look like a Thuringian, I hope it's not a common synthetic.

Looks a little rough to be a Thuringian or Escher. I think it's an everyday AlOx synthetic stone.

Generally it is pretty rare to pick out anything as a disguised Thuringian or Escher based on photos alone. Most people who own one know what they are and how much they are worth. The others at least know enough to use the correct terms when listing them on eBay.

But if I'm wrong on this stone (and I'd be happy if that were true), then congrats and be sure to post some photos when you get the stone in your hands! Good luck!
