I tried it last night, Gary. I used slurry and then slowly diluted to water and then let the water dry out for polishing.
If you finished with water you should have a nice smooth edge. i shaved of slurry finished edge it was smooth but a little crispier. The surface is nice and smooth on these stones. what size is yours , My escher is 5x2..

if there are ledgible markings on the box you might be able to call norton's cust. service and get a close idea of its grit if it does not say but some of the older stone makers used a letter scale yet I really have no idea if this applies to a barber's hone I saw this a lot on industrial rocks but ether way its a really nice piece congrats
