Okay so I must've finally found a good Barber Hone (Bhone) A Raven. Did the 5 laps on a failing edge and whodathunkit. It worked! I am well pleaed that I must no longer feel you b hone fans to be nostalgic propagandist.

It's not really a very smooth feeling hone; i used it with water. I may try 5 more to see what's what on the shave/after a few straps. And then give it a large count on linen next day

Given my predilection for barber hones, I might be tempted to take that personally. However, I'm happy that you found a good one, and the Raven is a good one.

Now, the next time that you notice that your razor even slightly is not cutting the way you remember it did before, go right back to that barber hone and it will make you smile every time!

That is cool Kevin. I have a few of them that I've played around with and they do work for touch ups. Randy and I were talking about barber hones the other night and he mentioned that they have a higher ratio of abrasive to binder then a waterstone. The good ones do anyhow.

Agreed. Grit size of abrasive is not the end all, be all, of a hone.
