Default How To Apply the Dovo Red/Black two-pack?

I have the "two pack" of Dovo red and black pastes and a linen strop that wants to be pasted.

Is there any preparation needed to apply the paste or do I just hold the gob of paste in my hand and "color" it on there? Does it need to be mixed with anything? This isn't the tubes of paste, but a block of pasting compound. I have searched the Wiki and cannot (so far) find anything on the specifics of how to apply this stuff.

Thanks for your patience with what I fear is a very ignorant question!

Okay, looks like it's pretty much just "color" or wipe it on there. Hope I got this right!

    just put it in linen.
    Red/Black
i never used Black but i know red is course one. will cut very fast.
At first try to find out what grit are they
if i am not mistaken red should be 2.5 .(make sure)
don't be too aggressive with this one . you even could sharpen blade with it. it cuts really fast.

Thank you for that guidance. I hope this will make my overall sharpening and touching-up process better.

I used to put Dovo pastes straight into the strops but then i saw few fine tip somewhere here in SRP:
Crush a little piece of paste with little neatsfoot oil and wipe it with your fingers into the strop. It spreads much easier and whole strop gets covered well. Remember to use only little paste and little oil.
