Looking for a "Touch-Up" Barber Hone
Hi All-As the Fili DT 12 I got for Father's Day is starting to get a little rough and irritate me slightly, even with occasional touch-ups on CrOX'd linen and colored newsprint, I am thinking about "getting my feet wet" in the honing kiddie pool with a barber hone of some sort.
The plan is to send my son's Dovo 5/8", which we were fortunate enough to get last Christmas during the lifetime honing deal, back to Lynn for its first tune-up. While the Dovo is getting put back in shape by Lynn, I'd like to get a barber hone for touch-ups on the Fili, using the freshly-honemeistered Dovo as a reference.
I know I missed a couple of good deals recently in the classifieds before I figured this out. So do any of you honing gurus have a basic barber hone, maybe even a KeenKutter combo, you'd let go for a reasonable price? And while I'm troubling the experts here, what is a good general regime of strokes for touching up before shave-testing? I'm sure I'll read the wiki and watch all the videos once I get a hone to play with. Hopefully I'm on the right path here. Maybe later I'll add a Norton 4/8k combo after I've mastered touch-ups, sort of working backward, so to speak.
Thanks in advance for any insights, or if you have an extra barber's hone gathering dust. Aaron
