Frankonian Hone?

Browsing through Olivia's site looking at the creams and noticed the Frankonian hone.

Description says to use after Escher for a superb edge.

I am very intrigued by this and wondering if anyone on here has used them and if they can give me a little more info on this interesting hone.

Specifically looking for confirmation that this does improve the edge after an escher (my current finisher) before placing an order.

like I already mentioned on B&B the Frankonian is a superb finishing stone on par with the best out there (compared to my vintage thuri, Shapton GS 30k, Nakayama).

As with all my other high end finishing stones I would not dare say any of them is finer, or better than the other.
This will apply for your Escher as well (assuming it´s a high quality Escher).

You will probably not get better shaves if you finish with the Frankonian
after having already finished on the Esher. It would be another way to go, another finishing route.
If you do not get superb shaves off your Esher,
you won´t get them from the Frankonian.

I recommend several things:

Try a Diamond or Chromiumoxide Strop (felt) after finishing on the Esher.
This will mask minor honing imperfections and smooth the edge out.
Get your Esher rated by someone with Escher experience.
Improve your technique.

An Escher must be top of the hill, otherwise something is wrong.
Another top notch stone won´t improve things,
but make them slightly different

Thanks again. Thought I would post over here as some people may have more experience with this hone on this forum.

I actually get fine edges from my coti and a noticeable improvement using my escher or vintage thuri after.

I just have a bad case of HAD and like collecting these various finishers. I'll probably end up getting it at some point just to try out.

If you´re a collector with a bada** case of HAD you will have to give the Frankonian a try.
It is a very unique stone with nice finishing abilities but a totally different feel.
It is very hard and very very dense

I´m also a very satisfied user of this stone. All my honed razors are finished with this one. It is not absolutely necessary to hone a razor, but very good to have.

Another arrow in the quiver if you feel you need it, and a good finisher, but does not compare to a vintage Escher IME. YMMV.
