Attached are some pics of one of my big turks, During lapping and with some oil. The little flecks of white are indicative of novaculite. This is a finishing stone.

Yes, I'm surprised how fast it is but I do need to really spend some time with it to see what it can do. What I did notice is that it doesn't create much of a scratch pattern with pronounced striations, it's more of a hazy "sandblasted" type of finish.

Thanks for the picture! I think there is a good chance that it's the same type of stone as yours. It has those little white flecks and an overall similar appearance. Much appreciated!

Looks like a piece of petrified wood. It would be hard and also could have quartz or similar crystal properties. I've even seen opalized wood.
