Hello,
Here are a few pictures of a stone I just finished lapping. I'm curious if anyone knows what kind it might be? It has a very pronounced white vein running through it and has a subtle green hue and a neat wood grain like pattern.
Thanks!

All of you HAD sufferers out there have no idea what this might be? I was thinking it might be a Turkey Oilstone?
That is one for hi _bud_gl or randydance. No idea what you have there but it looks pretty cool. Hope the inclusion doesn't bother the razor. :gl:
It is a gorgeous rock, can you "feel" the filled fissure in the middle? I'm interested what the guru's think myself, other than Jimmy, SHam, Randy, you might try to get ahold of Neil
Nice looker, no idea on type, but also very curious. How are the edges off it?
lapping was hard?
Looks like a Turkish oilstone to me. Is it from England? Sham or Randy can verify if they chime in. Have fun it looks like a good one. Is it lapped? Get ready for some excercise.

The stone is completely smooth and I did do a quick test on a razor and it's a very fast cutting stone. Not smooth enough to be a finisher and I have to play with it some more to get an idea of where it should fit in.
It was an Ebay purchase from Pennsylvania. It took about 3 hours to lap it since it had a dish in it. It's a very hard stone and the slurry is white.
so your saying that the stone is hard and a fast cutter too ?
