Using the "Long Swaty" as a Finisher
So I finally got around to trying a pet theory of mine out
I bought a Long Swaty Hone sometime back http://straightrazorpalace.com/hones...aty-score.html
I got it all cleaned up and mounted it it on a 8 1/2 x 3 in piece of acrylic with epoxy just like my other finishing stones with a label and a clear view of the stamp...
Now a few weeks back, I honed up my "test" razor on the Norton 1-4-8 sequence and then used the Long Swaty just the same as a finishing hone... I did 15 laps with a swipe of lather light as a Butterfly's Kiss stropped it in (linen & leather only) and finally used it this morning for a full shave...
Now I wasn't really expecting anything but a good shave, I have used multiple Swaty's and other Barber's hones and they all give good shaves... But what I have after 7 hours is pretty darn impressive still smooth as can be and zero irritation a bit better than just "good"...
I think I am going to do a bit more experimenting on this one, I only did 15 laps on just leather (Illinois #827) this morning and a simple lather on the face (SRD Frankincense) followed by Alum block and AS
I am going to try the KISS principle this this razor and see where it goes... :hmmm:
