Not sure if its a barber hone or not but the grit is very fine,I looked at a 8k norton at Woodcraft today and touching the surface this one feels atleast 2x finer grit . It was dark grey when i first got it which has faded to a brown after scrubing with dish detergent. The stone is very heavy and hard with no grain visible so i think its a man made stone. Any help would be great!

Try lapping it and repost a picture.

Impossible to really tell without lapping it first. Definitely looks man made.

Barber hones are usually 2x4" and not heavy. Most, but not all, have a brand embossed on one side, or lettering ink stamped on an edge. Could be a barber hone, but maybe not. Good luck with it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
