What? You mean all of them?
:roflmao
OK, I'll let Randy and Jimmy go first!
Yup all of them. Stack 'em up for you guy's with hundreds of hones. My wife says,
looking at my meager collection of hones, "do you really need all of those"? I tell her this is hardly any hones at all, just what I need to get the jobs done. So help out here honemeisters!
#1000 grit only. And there's been a few more added since the picture was taken. At least 4 more #1000. Atoma #400 up the back.

And it's not even 1/5 of all the stones I have for my own amusement/answering questions.
We won't count stock on the shelf now, will we?
Stu.
You can't show them all at once, you have to leave something to the imagination.
Hone porn. Keep the pictures coming!
Here's a selection of my stone-collection.
These are the one's I use the most these days.

My stone collection include set of Naniwa SS 1k-3k-5k-8k-10k, Coticule "La Dressante" Selected 200x75, Coticule slurry stone and Tsushima nagura which I use for cleaning and opening my Naniwas.
Also I must say that Naniwas are not so often in my rotation because I preffer smooth edges that my Coticule deliver using Dilucot method.

And: But if this is the accost:, notwithstanding the fact that one's better half is always right, always has the privilege to be right, and/or should at all times be entitled to exert the prerogative of curbing, nay correcting one's own fads, I'm sure pictures like this one:Attachment 69747
, or this of a few Eschers and accompanying literature should do: Attachment 69746
Hone porn? This? Not really. For one thing, artificial hones have no place here; they're all the same anyway. And isn't the objective to highlight the specific and individual virtues of each particular hone?
- or maybe the term 'hone porn' is appropriate after all, bearing in mind the relation porn has to true love.
Here are my hones:
Oh, wait, you guys already bought the good ones. There aren't any left for me.
I had a photo all ready to post, then I re-read the title. I'm glad now I didn't post a picture of my Cahones. It may well have been a bit embarrassing. :D
Mick
I like Chicharrones !????? Ohhhhhh........................! Whoops !
there's the example of the guy with the endless pocketbook, who outbids us broke bums on each and every nice escher or coticule...shame! sell those to meeeee...
I read the title of the thread and took a photo of my hone, singular, ready to post. Then I saw some of the other posts and decided that my shiny new Norton 4K/8K isn't worthy to post.
HAD, like I never knew possible. WOW.:dropjaw:

Wow folks! Thank you all for showing up here! I am semi-officially off the hook after I showed my dear wife the thread..she did say don't even think about it! lol.
I have others, but these three are special! I met a fellow in a antique store; said he had some razors. I got his number and a week or so later I called him. I stopped by and was able to let him know that his collection..yes collection..all clean as if new..beautifully displayed was worth about 10K-30K$ +. His wife was ecstatic!!!!
He showed me some hones and I told him the market value of them. He then "gave" me these three!" I have lapped them.
Some really nice folks out there!

PS. The location is sworn to secrecy!! Really!
Wow and to think I felt bad about buying a few hones the other day to get me started. You guys make me feel much better.

Got some more in boxes not opened from the move yet, but here are some and I am not laying these out........lol.
So much great eye candy above!!!
A few more.....
After seeing all this, I can't imagine what the basement would look like if I kept all the sets of stuff I've used like Kings, Shapton Pro's, Kityama and so many more over the years. Just played with 4 new 1K's and the first question I asked me was, OK where should you put these......lol.
Have fun,
Lynn
I've got plenty of storage space for you, Lynn. I know Don has my address on file ;-)
Lynn, what is that blue razor in the second to last picture?
wow very nice collection lynn when i put mine out on the table ,with every stone i started to wonder how much of a load can the table hold i would have craped my self if a few grand worth of stones fell on to the floor lets just say it didnt take as long to take them off as it was to put them on
I've got a few less than I used to have but here is the current herd, in the cabinet over the kitchen sink. EDIT; my Norton 1k, 4k, 8k aren't in the photo 'cause I keep them in tupperware containers in water. Attachment 69869Attachment 69870
It is great seeing the stuff others have. The one I'm really hoping to see some day is Hi_Bud_Gl's. I suspect he has the most extensive and diverse collection of hones, and of course his knowledge of them makes it even more of a treat.
I'm sorry I cannot contribute yet. We are still trying to buy a house and our belongings are spread out between two states. Most of my hones will have to remain in boxes until we find a house for consolidation. Besides, the only unique thing about my hones is the number of barber hones I've accumulated. Even though the high end naturals can perform "better," I remain fascinated by the diversity of characteristics of the barber hones and there are still of lot of them that I don't have!
Hey Lynn, it was probably a good idea that you included a shot of your home alarm system in your first hone photo!
+1, i'd like to see Hi_bud's collection too, but I wouldn't be surprised if ALX outdoes all of us.
Here is a photo I stole of your coticules last time you posted them. In case you have been missing them. BTW, I believe you have one more hone on the way. :tuAttachment 69877
This is my entire collection that I'm trying to whittle down.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...e/SAM_4783.jpg
Left to right:
DMT 600/1200
DMT 200/325
Chosera 1K
Coticules (top Row):
La Veinette (probably my best overall coticule - fast on slurry, slow on water and leaves an amazing edge)
La Veinette Narrow (similar to the one above, use it on smiling or warped spine razors)
La Petite Blanch (@nd Favorite, fast on slurry and water, narrow and great all around. A little keener edge than the Veinettes)
3 Les Latneuses (showing hybrid sides only. Hybrids leave one of the smoothest finishes off a coticule you can get)
(second row)
La Dressante (workhorse of a hone. Fast on slurry and water and leaves the most keen edge of any of my coticules)
La Verte (new addition - haven't tested it out yet)
La Grosse Blanch (buttery smooth edges off this one)
La Grosse Jaune (similar to the Blanch)
La Grise (slow on slurry and water. Basically a finisher only, but leaves a smooth edge)
3rd row
Vintage Coticule Combo (very nice stone, fast on slurry and slow on water. Reminds me of my La veinettes. Killer edge off this one)
Slurry stones
7x1.5" Escher
7x1.5: Vintage Thuringian (edges off these to are basically identical. Use them when I want to refine the coticule edge a little sharper)
Upper right - Charnley Forest (hardly ever use this one. Too slow and think they are overrated)
Lower right - Frankonian (very similar to escher/thuri)
Lower left - Oozuku Asagi and tomonagura (need to play with this more as I've had some edges off it that are the best off any of my finishers. Just not consistent enough on it)
Sheesh. I won't bother to post my Swaty or my Libertas barber hones. Right now I'm feeling like the one little kid in the neighborhood who didn't get the latest greatest toy for Christmas...rubbing my pennies together and hoping the hone I want to buy doesn't get discontinued before I can scrape together the money for it!
I WILL keep this thread handy though, so when I do make a hone purchase or two down the road, I can give an answer to the wife when she asks "Do you really need those?"
Thanks for sharing your collections guys!
Peace,
That is a killer deal. I've been eyeing the Nortons at Lie Nielson Toolworks, cheaper per piece than anyplace else I've looked and some stones I haven't seen elsewhere...of particular interest to me and my needs is the Norton 1k/4k combo. I'll sooner scrape together the $50 for that than the $120 though that is a killer deal.
Something about seeing all those bouts cracks me up. A few years ago before all the marketing effort, they could not be given away. Now if I can just find some big ones like Jimmy has..........:beer1:
So many pics of so many great looking stones!!
