Anyone any ideas on this hone?

Looks like a thuringian. Good finisher.
I was going by the shiny top, gray color and whitish streaks on the side. It also looks to be soft by the scratches visible. And the apparent size. Maybe I'm wrong.
Looks like brown Thuringian.
I have one like this and ask the same question on this forum. These are great hones but small ones.
Here is mine.
Best Regards,

Lol, it looks a bit too similar like yours doesn't it :DQuote:

Have fun.

This is what I believe is a Brown Thuringian. Although the base colour on mine differs, it has those similar orange/pink markings. An authority on hones has used mine and believes it to be a Thuringian.

Have you a picture of the slurry?
Foh-ZHENN
At first it looked yellowish.
And then?
Mine makes a slurry of the same consistency as my Thuringian and Escher, however it has a brown tint to it, where as the others are pretty much white with a hint of grey.
Here is more pics, wet and one with slurry. It turn out to be very good finisher, my mistake was to holding the stone in one hand and hone with another one . L.O.L. It so small at least for me that I could not put keen edge . But once I put the hone in the rubber holder everything is fine great for travel/vacation.

Mine is the same. Apparently they are Schwedensteins, from a mountain in Saxony, Germany. So a 'cousin' of Thuringians. Very similar.
Let's see. On the basis of the pictures: Thuringian, brown Thuringian, and the newly discussed Schwedenstein. Even with the connotations 'dark brown' and 'yellow slurry'.
In the above-cited thread it was described alongside this reposted pic as "The pic shows some blue into it but it is moltly dark brown and some redish spots" and "It cuts well but the finish is not as good as Escher" http://straightrazorpalace.com/attac...e-08790001.jpg
That lead to the the assumptions, one more boldly stated than the other: Thuringian and Frankonian.
Let's add some more descriptives, from two eBay ads with the pictures in the OP:
- sort of variegated coloring, mainly grey and brown, with a stripes sort of pattern
- size 5 3/4 x 1 ¼ by 3/8 thick (145 mm x 30 mm x10 mm.
- gives a very good edge - somewhere between 12,000 and 16,000k
