A very nice family you got there! Thanks for the writeup.
Have you noticed any difference in polishing power?
When using my Nakayama Maruka/Maruichi Kiita Nashiji with slurry I get (of course) the hazy Kasumi finish.
But when I finish the edge on plain water, the stone eventually begins to polish. And he does so very good, for a natural.
I havenīt seen this feature in any of my previous J-Nats.
How about your Ozuku, do they polish? And how does their polishing power compare to each other?

Very nice blog.
Some comments...
1. You do not need to make tomonagura.
If you want slurry just lap Oozuku vs Oozuku,
2. The Jigane (soft iron) of kamisori makes easy swarf wich will act similar to the slurry made by tomonagura.
So in many cases you do not need tomonagura for kamisori.
3. Western razors is hard steel only so you will have better smooth sharpening with tomonagura.

Thanked: 49Hey,
thanks for the tips. If i rub two oozukus together theyll stick together pretty easylie which i don't like. On my kamisori this Grey hard Stone is nearly doing nothing without slurry. If i use the tomonagura i allready have i just have slurry out of the nagura. Now i cutted a Small piece from the Bottom Side of the same stone and it was the best thing i could do. The slurry is definatly from the Stone then and gives the Best results and the slurry is much easier to raise. Don't know why. Its still takes Patience to create slurry.
