Today i really needed a haircut badly so i went to an old schoold barber who i havnt been to in years. I usually go to the same barber all the time who is great and has serious skills with a str8 but he wasnt working today and i needed it bad. While the old italian barber was shaving the back of my neck i mentioned that i collect straight razors and if he had any old stuff around i would love to purchase it. He started looking and pulled out an old clauss razor faux ivory with a covered tang. It has been put to work over the years for sure and has a ton of hone where. nothing to write home about but a solid little shaver i can use it to travel or something where i wouldnt mind it getting lost or stollen. What the score was is the big bbw/coti natural combo he pulled out. Its a sweet stone. its dished like crazy on both sides so it will take some work but it is supper thick on both sides and will be a great hone. its pretty wide i'd say maybe 2.5 inches wide by 8 inches long and tones of meat left to lap it down to perfect. the best part about it is when i offered him money for the stuiff he refused. he said he had no use for it and told me to enjoy them. What a nice thing to do. I cant wait to get this thing lapped and put it to use. I have another combo like it but smaller and thinner that if this one works out like i expect it to will be for sale shortly. just thought id share my excitement.
