looks like yellow green thuringian if the white balance of the pic is correct.
I agree with Mainaman. If you look under the green insert you probably find white or pink label proving it.
It may be a thuringian, what color is the slurry? Is it hard or soft?
Do I understand you correctly,a water stone.Stone soft enough,the suspension is formed quickly.I tried to sharpen a knife-стальvg-10,nothing came of it.Quote:

It is undoubtedly a Yellow Green Thuringian, with some nice striations which are less than often present. In my opinion these are among the best finishing stones for razors.

To answer your question is not so easy. Each natural hone is different. Additionaly your hone i of smaller size. From my experience also if you have a razor with smilling edge does not help.
Have a look here to liks on honing with Thuringian or Escher and adapt them to your hone and honing setup.

Just try different counts and see what you like best. The number will also depend on the quality of the finished edge, better finished edge will need less laps in general.
I agree with mainaman. Learning how to use your stone/ hone/ strop is part of the game. Be brave and have a andventure. I started thinking that shaving is it, but then I opened a can of worms with hones and sharpening and that is even more fun for me.

As for number of strokes, note that too many strokes on soft Thuringians can dull your edge. And: although it is possible to start with Thuringians directly after bevel-setting, you get most out of them when you use them as absolute finishers; if you need more than a dozen laps, you weren't quite finished on the preceding rougher hone.
