I have used the 1/4 Norton and with Larry's direction have had success. That being said "my way" may not be the most popular way but it works for me. Thats what thias site is all about. People who join together to share their experiences in wetshaving.
That's why you see so many razors with effed up toes and thin spines. A barber hone used as a touchup, weekly or even daily shouldn't really flatten it out that much, especially if you are just going 3-5 light strokes a day.
I do it weekly, and I'm over-cautious so as not to take too much off or overhone the toe
