Now, I don't feel bad...I've been buying bouts and odd-looking stones for no reason other than curiosity. I have to say though...I don't have any stones looking like these I've seen in this thread!!
Those hybird stones are amazing looking.
Yeah some of them are beautiful. The funny thing is, until a coticule enthusiast in Belgium promoted them on his coticule specific web forum, they were unsaleable by the quarry at Ardennes. Turns out, whether it was intended or not, there was an alchemist who turned dross into gold ....... figuratively speaking.

Like Modine, I like my SALM Coticule for a somewhat more refined edge and smoother shave.
This one has a bit more mangenese oxide than most Salms as far as I know.

Attachment 93947here is my newest Coticule. Still figuring it out but it feels awesome to hone on.
Very nice.
I've only had this for a few weeks but it's fast becoming my favourite stone. The only other coticules I own are the two little ones in the photo at the bottom, the le petite blanche is a little small to be of any use aside from finishing and the la verte is rather slow and unforgiving. I now have a clear favourite coticule. I'm particularly impressed with the edge it put on my sheffield wedge.
