Two new naturals in nifty cases.
Happened to snag two travelling cases for some decent money. I believe one stone is a Thuri, but no idea on the other one. Think the red spots are some kind of iron ...maybe?
Dry, Wet, Slurry. Slurry is brownish/grayish depending on the light. probably affected by the red spots as well.The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Would not be surprised it the one you think is Thuri is possibly Svedenstein and the other could be home made adaptation with CF.

The possibility of a CF crossed my mind, but I will need to look up the Svedenstein.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

That looks like the harder Charnley forest stone. I went and collected the wrong stone when I went to get some CF for myself. And the stones I've cut have a very similar colour, and layered pattern.
It's only a guess tho. There is no way to identify the stone because it's not a common type.
If it is like my HCF then it should be in the 10K range, perhaps a little higher.Real name, Blake

Very nice finds! I like the old traveling cases. I think they typically came with Scwedensteins ( I have two that probably are), but I have a third that appears to be a blue Thuringian. Images attached. The Schwedenstein typically shows a streaked appearance with some red in it.

Schwedenstein hone. They look like CF but they are softer. They are common in box set up. Fine stone, around 10-12K, I found is hard to hone on because of the narrower width.

+1 for Schwedenstein, especially 1st one, second one not too sure. Travel cases look similar to the ones you see on Tradera, Swedish auction site. Schwedenstein is German for Swedish stone.

Great information guy! I really like the travel box set-up. Something about having a strop, hone, and razor all in a compact travel case really appeals to me.
