Hone ID? Antique Escher/Thuringian or Coticule
Can someone help me ID this old hone I picked up an estate sale awhile back for $5. Believe it is a natural stone and has a yellow side and blue/gray side. It measures 7 3/8 in X 1 6/8 in X 3/4 in. Lapped it with my DMT and it works well, better than my Nortons. It came in the Craftsman box shown and says it is "silicon carbide". It also has a name in old script on the end and believe it says "John E Cow". Didn't notice that name until I took the picture today. Have done some research, but have not seen one quite like this one. Don't know much about the older hones and hope someone in SRP can help me ID this. Thanks and hope these photos help.
