How did you get slurry? Was it hard to make? Does it smell? How? What is the size? Any faults/damage on the hone?
I used a DMT 320 and it is slow to slurry, it slurries a light bluish color. There is no smell and there are no faults or damage. The ends have where it has been cut with a saw and so it is a natural for sure. Size is 7 3/4 x 1 7/8 x 5/8 inch thick,, The way I use it or the method I hone my razors is(depening on the condition of the blade): 600 diamond to 1250 diamond to 4000 and 8000 Norton, then I use this natural hone( the ghost hone) I slurry it pretty good and drag that baby to about 30-40 strokes. I will check the blade periodically with a special magnifier and light. I have had great success using this technique and all my razors are awesome shave ready( been using and shaving with SR's for going on three years now).
To be honest then I would tend more towards black arkie. I believe that Frankonian is simmilar in hardness to Thuris. Also from the slurry it looks more like novaculite.
I do own a few Arkansas stones, I have a surgical black Arkansas but it will not slurry, this hone is higher grit than the Eschers and SRD hones that I have. This hone has some light blue specks, if that helps any.
In that case I am giving up. Sorry. Hopefully some of the colleagues will chime in.
Thanks for your time, I really don't care or need to know what kind of hone it is. I just kinda wanted to share this hone with everybody, I hope and wish everybody that shaves with a SR has a hone or two or three... as good as this hone,,,I love it. Happy shaving, Rudy.
She's a beautiful hone & I'm happy, that your happy with it.
Hone long and prosper.
