To be sure that is what a strict definition of what a Mester/Meister/Master Tradesman is. As such they deserve the same respect accorded an Engineer, Lawyer or Doctor because of their level of expertise in their chosen trades.
In common/popular use in English it is used more loosely than it strictly should be. It simply implies a person of considerable skill in a specific area of endevour. As a native English speaker I know the difference and recognize the difference when it is used. Long winded way of saying I have no problems with the word Honemeister.
