To be sure that is what a strict definition of what a Mester/Meister/Master Tradesman is. As such they deserve the same respect accorded an Engineer, Lawyer or Doctor because of their level of expertise in their chosen trades.

In common/popular use in English it is used more loosely than it strictly should be. It simply implies a person of considerable skill in a specific area of endevour. As a native English speaker I know the difference and recognize the difference when it is used. Long winded way of saying I have no problems with the word Honemeister.

The real point is that the term is an SRP term and really only is applicable here... I realize that many of the other fora use it also, but it really started here on SRP and referred to Lynn...

We have the term Honester also, but it was most often used to refer to wannabees therefor you don't see it often any longer..

A lot of things could have different nomenclature. I'd like to call my razor "Nick McSlicenstein", but everyone here might not know what I'm talking about:D

It all boils down to the fact that you can call yourself or be called whatever you want. Its a term that has been coined and that's pretty much all there is to it. :shrug:

Since we have no real trade economy in the US, the term gets diluted, and it's used more as marketing.

Overthinking? Shoot, barely took any thought at all. This word is not associated with any one person for me so I apologize if anyone is offended. It is the word I don't care for, nothing else.

Well it is associated with Lynn Abrams who is the founder of SRP where you are a member so there is a connection.
