    Ok Honemaster types....

I have an older Nani I guess, (cream colored 12k on plastic base) because when I bought it, Lynn made a clear warning against soaking them for extended periods.
Is there any kind of noticeable difference between the old ones and the newer ones as far as performance/feel etc?
Should I be upgrading to the latest and greatest, more super super stone?

Being softer I can also spare the money for the lapping stone and I'll continue with the sandpaper as I do for the norton. In the future I'll probably need a proper lapping stone, but I'd rather spend that money on a new razor than on a lapping stone as long as I can continue with the old plain sandpaper
what do you use under your sandpaper?
    Thank you,

I lay the sandpaper on a flat glass surface.

    Depends on the blade.

The particular one I referring to is a dovo stainless steel 5/8 round point. I recently switched from the pyramid to circles getting better results.
The last one was 40 circles with pressure on the 4k + 40 no pressure and 10 x-strokes with no pressure, at this point the blade was already passing HHT. Then I moved to the 8k with 30 x-stroke no pressure.

The edge come out of the stone better than I used to get from the pyramid but with a similar feeling: it requires LOT of stropping before getting smooth. I get a smoother edge, with less stropping, out of a dovo, some size, carbon steel. The stones were lapped recently.

Yes, I have a jeweler loupe, a 20x that I use when I need to re-align or tune my fountain pen's nibs

My stones were finally shipped today with UPS. I should get them by the end of the week.

I'll give them an initial lapping and then I'll only have to wait for the delivery of the couple of razors that I recently bought

but its really groovy that your hones are coming so soon. Hope you love em like I do mine. At first I thought my blue 1k hone wasn't gonna remove enough steel to meet my expectations, but soon found out different. They are great hones. Good luck
    Thank you,

eheheh, hi Swerve, I got a couple of razors from our classifieds:

    Engels special 5/8
    and
    6/8 Wade & Butcher

the second one was supposed to go to my brother, which is starting with SRs now, but he eventually asked me to bid on a Bengall 6/8 that I just discover coming from MagPie, so the W&B will stay with me.

I also won this other W&B yesterday

And with that I'll have to put my RAD at rest for a while...
