    Default Honing help Houston

I am interested in learning the proper use of a Belgian coticule. Any one with experience in Houston?

I have seen this video and tried to duplicate his results with no luck. I have tried numerous other methods as well. Can't figure out what the issue is.

Coticule honing is definitely not something you can just sit down and do. It requires patience and dilligence to get good, consistent results.

I have been coticule honing for the better part of 4 months now, and it has been quite a challenge to say the least. I am just getting to the point where I can get consistent edges. I will say that once you get the hang of it, the edge it produces is REALLY smooth and enjoyable, definitely worth the effort!

Coticules are an acquired taste, though...If you want to experience an edge from a coti, PM me and I'd be glad to hone a razor for you...

Thank you. I am finally making some progress. I sprayed the linen part of my strop with chromium oxide and got much better results than from the balsa with co. The razor finally passed the hanging hair test so I am feeling much better. What a frustrating process though.

Stick with it, though! You'll be glad you did. I LOVE the edges that I get from a properly honed coti edge & I'm sure you will too!
