I am looking to purchase some lapping equipment... Right now my progression consists of a Chosera 1k, the welsh slate trio, an ozuku mizu asagi and asano nagura trio and a wakasa tomo nagura. I'm getting a coticule over the next day or two as well.

I've used Ironsidegnr's DMT lapping plate on my naturals and found that it leaves aggressive cuts in the face of my stones. To combat this I simply use some 400 grit wet/dry sand paper on my glass stove top surface to 'polish' them out.

I'd like to avoid the sandpaper phase completely. Should I be looking at 2 or 3 DMT diasharp bench stones or a few Atomas? If I use them in a progression will they remove these gouges or not?

I've tried honing off the surface left by the dmt on the welsh slate trio and it really seems to have a negative effect on the edge produced. Once i take them up to 400 or 600 grit sandpaper and all the gouges are removed, magic seems to happen again.

Any help would be appreciated!
