Don't have any but from what I hear from friends that do they are great for lapping waterstones. I don't think I'd want to hone a razor on them. As great as they are be aware that the Dia-Sharp DMT D8C, the usual lapping plate for many of us, is way cheaper. FWIW, I have the D8C but the Atoma 1200 is on my to do list if I can ever bring myself to part with the $.

Same here, would be fun to try an Atoma, but my DMTs looks like they going to last a few years more.
Search on site for Atoma, lot written about them.Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.

Thanked: 3164Like Jimmy said - fantastic for lapping, but not for honing on.
The kind of random pattern of the diamond grit stops them sticking as much as DMTs during lapping, and they are very, very quick too. Very expensive, though, and you can get equally good results lapping on glass with lapidary grit with some care at a fraction of the cost.
Regards,
Neil

As have been said, great for lapping, but not useful at all for honing razors.
I have the 140, 600 and 1200 grit, all of them stellar products.
I also have the 325, 600 and 1200 grit DMT plates in 8 by 3 inches, they are not as good for lapping imho, but slightly better for rough work on steel. Personally, i wouldn't use any of those either on any razor though.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Is there something better?
