I don't think it has anything to do with Canada. Maybe the wholesaler or guy who sources them is named Joe Canadian.

One of the ads I saw mentioned the supplier - Canada Stone.
I found this with Google:

The logo looks similar - BUT - a maple leaf is a maple leaf, right?! I'm not going to call them and find out...

Ya Canadian made saw that stone but don't think it will polish the edge, but I like the package too bad they would stop it from coming to where I live :rofl2:the guys from Ontario will understand wink wink nudge nudge.
This website claims the stone is ideal for straight razors? By Timor Solingen Germany.

"5% off your first order" Well, there probably wont be a second order once you tried the shave!
Such a pity - G&F used to be a great company.

Well I defiantly got more out of this thread then I expected so thank you all. If I ever see one in my travels who knows I may pick one up just because, it won't break the bank. I may even look out for the oil stones mentioned,
I want one of those finest celebrated canadian oil stones.... just because :)
I bought two of this canadian sharpening stones a while ago from a seller which I got through amazon for only a few €.

The stone looks and feels like slate in the first touch.
I have compared it from the appearance and feel to the touch to other stones and it perfectly fits with a Roszutec in my collection.

Even the saw marks at the side are quite the same.

I have not compared both in honing yet and cannot compare grit or anything else. Also I don't know why somebody would sell a Roszutec as Canadian sharpening stone. But even the first item mentioned I am able to test.
